Sen. Ruth Johnson sworn in for second term

LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Ruth Johnson was officially sworn in as senator for the new 24th District on Wednesday during a ceremony at the state Capitol. Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Elizabeth T. Clement administered the oath of office.

Johnson was joined on the Senate floor for the first session day of the 102nd Legislature by Don Brown, chairman of the Macomb County Board of Commissioners.

“I am grateful and honored to serve the wonderful people of Oakland, Macomb, Lapeer and Genesee counties in the state Senate,” said Johnson, R-Holly. “We face new challenges and have a new Legislature, but I remain committed to working together to ensure we have an effective, efficient and accountable state government that works for the people, increases opportunities and helps improve the lives of everyone in our state.”

The 24th Senate District includes parts of Oakland, Macomb, Lapeer and Genesee counties.
