The bill would require the state to work with the federal government to implement the program and maintain drug safety protections.

Sen. Ruth Johnson, R-Holly, welcomed Craig Nagy of the Cinnamom bakery in Grand Blanc to the state Capitol on Tuesday to help provide senators and staff a treat in honor of her first bill being passed by the Senate. Cinnamom was started in 2013 by Craig's wife, Rebecca Nagy, with her mom's original recipes. The bakery now offers over 40 different types of homemade cinnamon rolls. The treat was in honor of the Senate recently passing Johnson's bill, Senate Bill 70, which would create an address confidentiality program to help protect victims of domestic abuse, sexual assault, stalking or human trafficking by keeping their physical addresses hidden from their offenders.

Senate Bill 288 would expand the state's current texting-while-driving ban to all portable electronic devices unless being used by the driver in a "hands-free" manner. Zimmerman lost her daughter Ally and the Freyblers lost their son Jacob as the result of distracted driving accidents.
