Bipartisan sexual assault package sent to governor

LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Ruth Johnson, R-Holly, issued the following statement after her legislation was enrolled Tuesday as part of a bipartisan package, Senate Bills 66-73, to prevent sexual assault, support survivors and punish offenders — sending the bills to the governor to be signed:

“I am proud to once again be part of this important package to support sexual assault survivors and protect our children from these heinous acts, and I look forward to finally seeing the reforms signed into law.

“We have been working on many of these measures for a long time — spearheaded in response to the sexual assaults committed by former Michigan State University doctor Larry Nassar.

“It is great to see such bipartisan support for doing everything possible to protect our children from sexual predators.”
